Healthy Living and Resource Fair
Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn hosted the 8th Annual Whittier Area Healthy Living and Resource Fair, in partnership with the South Whittier Community Resource Center (CRC), South Whittier School District, THINK Together, South Whittier Community Education Foundation, SPIRITT Family Service Centers, community health partners, and County departments.
Highlighting this year’s theme, Get Moving for a Healthier Generation, 30 exhibitors provided educational materials on healthy living, offered free health, dental, and chiropractic screenings for families, and had an interactive large-scale version of the classic board game Operation. The South Whittier Community Education Foundation also featured physical activity game booths for families to engage and get moving.
“This event shows that when we collaborate with our County and community partners, we can provide the necessary tools for families to live a healthier life,” shared, Monique King-Viehland, Executive Director of the Community Development Commission/Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles (CDC/HACoLA), which administers the CRC.
The CRC is funded by the Fourth Supervisorial District and works in collaboration with its onsite service providers to offer health, wellness, and educational programs for families, seniors, and youth.
